AOC Attacks Pence And Trump: “It’s always about the con”

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez just showed America how naïve she really is in her new attack on Mike Pence and President Trump.

She is attacking Pence for staying at Trump’s Irish resort rather than stay in Dublin. She is accusing Pence of straying there to enrich Trump.

Really? Even if it is true, who cares? We let our leaders stay where they want. No questions asked.

Also, Pence’s family is from the town where Trump’s report is and he brought his family over to go visit with distant relatives. Pence is paying the costs for his family.

AOC used Twitter to attack and started with this:

“Virtually every policy Trump pursues works to steal public money & personally enrich himself & his friends.

Gutting National Monuments pays ➡ Fossil Fuel CEOs…Border concentration camps pay ➡ Private Prison CEOs

Betsy DeVos pays ➡ loan sharks…It’s always about the con.

Since corruption isn’t popular policy, racism works as the cover for the con. That’s why addressing racism isn’t a “distraction” – it’s key to understanding the hustle against working people.

Culturally, racism is used as the unspoken cudgel against pro-working class policy.

For example:

By rallying support for super racist immigration policies, (Muslim Ban, concentration camps, etc), supporters look the other way at the billions of public dollars going to private prison CEOs – who then kick some that 💰 back to Trump (ex. his inaugural committee)

The corruption of Trump – of many admins – wouldn’t be politically possible without relying on sympathy for racist policies.

That’s what Reagan’s Black “welfare queen” was all about, too.

If people think they’re “paying for someone else,” they’ll dismantle their own healthcare.

Beyond the moral wrong, racism is a powerful political tool used to dismantle public goods & civil rights.

So long as bigoted sympathies exist (subtly or loud), they will be used. That’s why convincing people racism is a sidenote,&not broad or institutional, is a strategic move.”

From NBC:

President Donald Trump suggested that Vice President Mike Pence stay at his Irish golf club on an official trip funded by taxpayer dollars, Pence’s chief of staff Marc Short told reporters Tuesday.

Pence, who is traveling with his wife, sister, and mother, is staying at the president’s golf club in Doonbeg, Ireland, during his visit to the country. Rather than stay in Dublin, where he is set for a day of meetings and events with Irish officials, Pence is making the back-and-forth trip from Doonbeg to Dublin, more than an hour flight each way.

Originally, Pence was scheduled to conclude his trip in Doonbeg, where he has familial ties, after attending World War II commemoration ceremonies in Poland.

On whether the president asked Pence to stay at his Irish golf club, Short said: “I don’t think it was a request, like a command. … I think that it was a suggestion.”

“It’s like when we went through the trip, it’s like, well, he’s going to Doonbeg because that’s where the Pence family is from,” Short said before describing the president’s suggestion. “It’s like, ‘Well, you should stay at my place.'”

“It wasn’t like a ‘you must,'” Short added. “It wasn’t like, ‘You have to.’ It’s a facility that could accommodate the team. Keep in mind, the Secret Service has protected that facility for him, too, so they sort of know the realities, they know the logistics around that facility.”
