The Democrat establishment is making a huge mistake and it will cost them. They are panicked Bernie Sanders will be their nominee and in that fog, they are screwing themselves.
Why? Because they know if Bernie wins their reign of terror and control over the party is over in the same way Trump ended the GOP.
They want power at all costs and so they are re-arranging the deck chairs on the titanic in a doomed effort to secure the nomination for Biden.
It is a classic blunder – Biden is not the guy – Bernie may not be either, but at least he inspires people. Biden puts them to sleep and it matters.
From the New York Times:
Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, who entered the Democratic presidential race with an appeal to moderate voters and offered herself as a candidate who could win in Midwestern swing states, has decided to quit the race and endorse a rival, former Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., according to a person close to Ms. Klobuchar.
Ms. Klobuchar will appear with Mr. Biden at his rally in Dallas Monday night. The decision comes one day after former Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind., departed the race, and after weeks of Democratic Party hand-wringing about a crowded field of moderate candidates splitting a finite field of centrist votes, allowing Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont to march forward unopposed among progressives and amass delegates.
Ms. Klobuchar, despite a strong third-place finish in New Hampshire, lagged her moderate rivals in every other state and was often seen as a candidate siphoning support. Though she had varying levels of support across the Super Tuesday map, polling within reach of leading candidates in some predominantly Republican states with open primaries, but it is unclear how much of a boost any of her rivals will see in the wake of Ms. Klobuchar’s exit, or where she may direct her 7 delegates.
It didn’t help Amy that she had to cancel an event last night after protesters took over the stage and refused to leave. From CNN:
Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s campaign canceled a Sunday evening campaign event after dozens of protesters took the stage and would not leave inside a high school gym in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
Campaign manager Justin Buoen said he was “very disappointed,” adding that Klobuchar was ready to meet with the protesters, who agreed to sit down with her and then changed their minds.
“We had a negotiation and had an agreement with the organizers of the protest to meet with the senator on site. She was in the room ready to meet with them and then they changed the terms and decided that they didn’t want to meet with her,” he said in a conference room. “Really wish that we would have been able to one, do the meeting, and listen to the protesters, but also have the event.”
