President Donald Trump had no opposition in the Texas Super Tuesday primary but was still able to deliver an impressive showing.
Trump received nearly 2 million votes sending a clear message that the Dems dream of turning Texas blue will not happen anytime soon.
Joe Biden seems to be a lock for the Dem nomination and while the establishment breathes a sigh of relief, they should be careful because conventional wisdom says Biden is the guy.
Conventional wisdom is usually wrong or has been for the last few years in US politics. Bernie beat Hillary in the key swing states and he beat Biden in a few critical ones as well which should trouble the Dems.
The Electoral College is all that matters and it is easy to see Biden losing key swing states Bernie would have won or made closer. the rust belt is Trump’s not the Dems anymore.
Trump received 1,871,515 total votes in the Texas Republican primary on Tuesday, with 99.5 percent of the vote reporting.
That’s more than the top four remaining Democrats combined, as currently former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Michael Bloomberg, and Elizabeth Warren have earned a total of 1.7 million votes in Texas, with 91.3 percent of the vote reporting, although the Democrat votes are still being counted.
Trump received the most votes ever for an incumbent president running in Texas.
Fifteen years ago, 635,948 Republican Texans voted for then-President George W. Bush in the 2004 Republican primary. In 2012, 520,410 Democrats voted for then-President Barack Obama in their primary.
